At this time of year as the temperature begins to increase cluster flies which have been hibernating over the winter in areas such as lofts and attics begin to exit their harbourage.

Some manage to directly exit the building while others make their way into our living areas and cause a nuisance. Having left the building they lay their eggs in grass land and die off.

Their offspring will emerge later on in the year and will be attracted back to the loft next autumn to hibernate again by a chemical marker left by their parents.
